Spotlight on Open Education Resources: Promoting Low-Cost Solutions for Student Course Materials Online
Join CWU Geography Professor Dr. Sterling Quinn and Scholarly Communications Librarian Maura Valentino to learn more about incorporating OERs into your course materials. With an introduction by Provost Dr. Michelle DenBeste.
Topics included:
- Authoring and teaching course materials that were at the same time available online for the public as OER
- Publishing in open access journals
- Using free and open source software in our labs to support a wider variety of students in online learning (especially during the pandemic)
- Contributing to open scientific databases as a service learning activity (we do a humanitarian OpenStreetMap project each year in our Geography Club)
- Learn about CWU's institutional repository, ScholarWorks, where professors can write or place OER resources
- What resources are available for CWU faculty who want to move to OER textbooks?
- How can CWU faculty take advantage of ScholarWorks and other Brooks Library resources to expose their work?
Registration is required. For more information, contact Maura Valentino at Maura.Valentino@cwu.edu
