Lion Rock Visiting Writers Series: Maya Jewell Zeller In-Person
CWU Professor Maya Jewell Zeller aims to show how to incorporate sound within a poem. During the craft talk, Maya will also share with everyone a chapter from her new poetry textbook. Whether you're a seasoned poet looking to refine your craft or a novice eager to learn more about poetry, this is a craft talk you don’t want to miss. Maya Zeller's book Out Takes/Glove Box won the New American Poetry Prize, selected by Eduardo Corral. Out Takes/ Glove Box focuses on rhyme and how sound produces different emotional directions within a poem.
During the reading, Maya will also talk about reproductive rights, the wunderkammer of the body, intersections of gender, and socioeconomic class. Join us for a wonderful reading full of lyric imagining and hybrid works! Understand the link between poetry and memoir. Find out how to apply narrative signposts and deep images. Explore the process of inventing forms!
These events will be online and in-person.
