CWU Libraries presents Provost Lecture Series: Dominic Klyve In-Person
Join us for an opportunity to hear Dominic Klyve (KLEE-vee) a Professor of Mathematics at Central Washington University and the Douglas Honor Collague (DHC). He is the author of more than 70 papers in number theory, the history of mathematics and science, and applied statistics. His interdisciplinary works have appeared in journals ranging from Gastrointestinal Endoscopy to Shakespeare Quarterly. He has won the Alder Award for teaching the Lester-Ford Award for expository writing from the Mathematical Association of America, and a Faculty Mentoring Award from the Council on Undergraduate Research. In his talk titled Crossing Borders: Interdisciplinary Work from the William O. Douglas Honors College he will describe some of his recent research that crosses or unites disciplines. Throughout the presentation, we will encounter the Sonnets of William Shakespeare, the history of alchemy, the complexity of repeated subtraction, the non-invasive detection of blood glucose, and the relationship between visual art and generative Artificial Intelligence. Topics will include those inspired by, and done in collaboration with, DHC students.
The Provost Presents series highlights current faculty research from various disciplines at CWU, offering an opportunity for colleagues, students, and community members to learn about the innovative research and creative work of our faculty.
Reception to follow. Free and open to all. No registration required.
