Cultural Conversations In-Person
Join us for Cultural Conversations with our Winter Quarter storyteller Yoon Kim presenting MY American mom or OUR Korean mom (Individualism and Collectivism).
Yoon Kim (Yoona Kim/김윤아) is the Korean language professor and leader of the Korean Culture Studies Center at CWU. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Yoon Kim moved to Ellensburg in 2012. Since 2016, Yoon Kim has been involved with CWU in various roles, including continuing education and Asian studies faculty. With a background in German, marketing, and public relations from Korean University, Yoon Kim earned a degree in Asia Pacific studies at CWU and a master's in education and learning technology at WGU in the USA. She is inspired by the passion of students for language and cross-cultural understanding, grateful they've chosen the Korean language and culture. "Teaching them is not just an opportunity to impart knowledge but also to learn and be excited by their perspectives" -Yoon Kim.
The Cultural Conversations program provides a community forum for meeting new friends and learning about global cultures.
Co-sponsored by CWU Libraries, Ellensburg Public Library, and the CWU Office of International Studies and Programs.
Free and open to all.
This event is available in a hybrid format. No registration required.
